Scouts

For boys aged 10 1/2 to 14

On being invested as a Scout from the age of ten and a half, a boy makes the full Scout Promise. The main difference from the Cub Scout Promise is that it starts with the words 'On my Honour'. Although the concept of 'Honour' is personal to each scout, it embraces ideals such as trust, duty and sincerity. A scout learns to take responsibility for himself and for others. As a member of a Patrol (of 6 or 7 boys), he will learn to cook food for himself and his patrol and share fun and games with other scouts at the weekly meetings and at camps.

Our troop is well-known for its wide-ranging programme of indoor and outdoor scouting activities. We aim to take the boys out on a regular basis, at least once a month, to pursue a variety of activities. Boys who become proficient in particular skills can earn badges. They can also take part in the 4-Stage Award Scheme.
